Nike promotes Rajeev Aikkara to VP technology

Nike has promoted Rajeev Aikkara to vice president of technology.

Aikkara joined Nike in 2021 as vice president global technology with a focus on the EMEA market.

He was eventually promoted to vice president, global technology with a focus on supply chain, planning and manufacturing in 2023.

Prior to that, he was at Burberry for more than four years, serving as vice president digital technology.

He also spent nearly eight years at Asos, where he started in 2008 as a senior business analyst.

In 2011, he was appointed portfolio manager, with responsibilities that included boosting web, mobile (including tablets) and social commerce solutions.

In 2015, he was promoted to technology manager at the firm, position he held for more than two years.

Last year, the retail giant focused on the restructuring of its technology division as the sportswear giant reshuffled priorities under chief executive officer Elliott Hill, leading to the layoff of some employees.

The job cuts affected staff in the strategic enterprise and corporate functions departments, according to people familiar with the matter.

Nike confirmed the departure of technology workers but did not specify how many employees would be made redundant or the total size of its technology division.

A Nike representative told Reuters in an email at the time that the company planned to shift some of the technology work to third-party vendors.

The restructuring came after Hill, who came out of retirement in October to lead the business, appointed new leaders for several departments including strategy, human resources and sports marketing, though Muge Dogan, a former Amazon.com Inc executive, remained Nike's chief technology officer.
